Substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are chemicals that could cause serious harm to humans and the environment if the amount of chemicals exceeds the authorized limit. Every year, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) would update the SVHC list by adding more chemicals. As of January 2023, there are 233 entries in the SVHC candidate list. More chemical substances will continue to be added to the SVHS list, and as brands and suppliers, we need to understand what are the common chemicals that affect consumer products and how SVHCs can be reduced in products. These are the areas we would like to discuss.
Philipp Brüning has been working in the testing industry for 12 years with expertise in food chemistry, contaminants and chemical analysis. Philipp engaged in various positions in prominent testing institutes before joining QIMA and have rich experience in test method optimization, lab operation and chemical analysis. Philipp holds a PhD in Food Chemistry from Hamburg University.
